AFTERNOON PROGRAMS AT DISR
The afternoon programs at the German International School Riyadh complement classroom instruction and provide children and young people with the opportunity to discover their interests, develop their talents, and experience community across classes and age groups.
Our extracurricular activities (AGs) are designed for kindergarten children as well as primary and secondary school students. They take place after the regular school day and are offered exclusively in German. In this way, they not only strengthen personal and creative abilities, but also naturally enhance language proficiency in everyday life.
For kindergarten children, the programs take place after the kindergarten day from 2:15 PM to 3:45 PM. The AGs for primary and secondary students are offered from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

Discover, try out, and grow
In the afternoon programs, voluntary participation is the focus. Without the pressure of grades or performance, children and young people can try new things, pursue their own interests, and develop skills that often receive less attention during regular instruction.
The AGs provide space for:
- creative and artistic expression
- movement, sports, and physical activity
- practical work and hands-on learning
- social interactions beyond one’s own class
The program is deliberately designed to be diverse and ranges from theater, cooking, and artistic projects to sports and movement activities, as well as other rotating activities that are regularly adapted to the interests of the students.

Homework Supervision

Strengthening independence and structure
In addition to the creative and athletic programs, DISR offers homework supervision. Here, children receive support in completing their assignments and learn to work independently, in a structured manner, and with personal responsibility.
The focus is on:
- effective work organization
- concentration and perseverance
- responsible management of learning time
The supervision is provided in a supportive and guiding manner, without taking away the children’s responsibility for their own learning.
